The past 17 weeks of my Gold DofE volunteering Program.

Over the past 17 weeks, I have been following Edukids Gold volunteering program and have completed my first couple of events in order to raise money to combat Period Poverty in Uganda. I chose to support this cause because I believe it is such a huge problem as it impacts so many girls living in poverty and restricts their abilities to succeed. Gender equality is something I strongly believe in so I chose to support this cause with Edukid’s help.

So far, I have raised £111 by baking cookies for people at work as well as cleaning people’s cars in my village. Both events were really enjoyable, both to organise and to carry out.

What I have learned through volunteering with Edukid is that it is so easy to raise money and make an impact on someone else’s life, somewhere in the world. With Edukid, and their well organised and structured timetable, it makes it really easy to break down bigger events, making things a lot more achievable and less daunting.

What I would say to the next person considering volunteering with Edukid is that it’s quite easy to fall behind the timetable, so it’s really important to stick to the schedule, otherwise you’ll find yourself overloaded with things to do!

I hope you’ve found my blog interesting and I hope it’s helped you to think of ideas on how you can help people in poverty too!

Thanks,

Faith
