My journey with Edukid has been so amazing. I am so proud to have helped so many young children, which would have never have been possible without Edukid.
I chose Edukid because their causes are admirable – saving children everyday and making the world a better place. I decided that I would raise money for the ‘WATER FILTER’ project (Cambodia). This project is a great idea because it is an ongoing effort that saves a LOT of children. One water filter can consistently help 50 students. Everyone should have access to clean water, and I wanted to make a permanent change to help people, so this was the perfect project to do.
I raised money by setting up a funfair and by asking for donations. I raised a total of £852 (not including gift aid or the donation that my father’s company matched), which is enough to buy around 42 filters!! According to Edukid, this will mean 2100 children have clean water! I cannot believe that my fundraising has helped so many people. I am so proud of myself and everyone who donated or spread the word.
My highlight was the researching of the projects, which opened my eyes to all the suffering that less fortunate children endure. Consequently, the feeling when I saw how much money had been raised was so fantastic.
I have learnt many new things by volunteering with Edukid. I have been enlightened as to how a little, can help people in poverty, a lot. I also learnt how to run an event effectively, communicate well, and write persuasively.
I would definitely suggest Edukid to everyone else out there. You learn so much, and most importantly, you make the world a better place.

Thank you so much for volunteering for Edukid, Hanaan. We are so pleased to hear how much you enjoyed the experience and how much you have learned from the programme! Well done on raising such a fantastic amount of money by organising your own funfair – this will make such a huge difference to the lives of the children we work with in Cambodia! Thank you!
