Today we went to a village about 15 minutes’ drive from Siem Reap. There are about 40 children in the village, but they have invited children from surrounding villages too, so about 100 children go to the project. Care for Cambodia, the charity that works with Edukid, have raised money for a school building for the village. It was good to see what a difference people’s donations make.
The children sang a welcome song, which was brilliant. We did bubbles, lots of colouring and face paints. The boys liked the face painting most, some wanted to be spiderman or batman but lots of the boys wanted to be butterflies too. In Cambodia, the things that boys and girls like aren’t so important. You see boys riding pink bikes, or wanting flowers on their hands. I think that is because they don’t have much, they are happy with almost anything!
We met a girl who has started university. She is studying agriculture so that she can help the people in the countryside to farm better.
This was the last village we visited. I am really sad to be going home but am looking forward to coming home and telling people about my trip and helping to raise money for the people in Cambodia.
