About us
Edukid is a UK registered charity that helps to remove the barriers to education faced by children living in poverty and conflict.
Edukid believes all children have the right to attend school and that education is a long-term solution to enabling communities to break out of their cycle of poverty
Since 2003 Edukid has been a platform for hope, equal rights, opportunity and inclusive education. We currently support over 3000 children living in poverty in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and South America.
We have three main goals:
-To provide education to children who live in chronic poverty. We support students from primary school all the way up to university and vocational training.
-To break down the barriers to education that these children face. This is done by working with local communities to find sustainable models of addressing the issues children face.
-To educate and empower UK students to explore their roles as Global Citizens
Edukid avoids imposing ‘western ideals’ by partnering with local people and organisations, who live and work closely with the communities we support. This helps us to develop projects born out of their deeper cultural understanding of what is needed and likely to be effective.
Global Citizenship Programme
Our Global Citizenship Programme is a partnership between Edukid and UK teachers/schools. Edukid provide lesson plans, films, and case studies as well as organised trips to our projects abroad. UK teachers deliver the programme and empower their students to help children in our projects into education. As the UK students grow in their understanding of the issues year on year, so their supported children in our projects abroad grow in their education.
Imagine a world where children in our overseas projects can have the opportunity to become doctors, teachers, lawyers and engineers. Imagine a world where UK students can graduate onto degrees and Masters in International Development or run projects abroad or become Edukid apprentices and trustees. Imagine a world where both sets of graduates work together to change further lives. The above already exists!
Welcome to Edukid’s Global Citizenship Programme (GCP). Our GCP tells their story and it exists so that your students can join. Click below to download further information
