Meet the kids

Edukid Uganda.

School Support Programme: Covers all the costs of a childs education. This includes:all school fees, uniforms, text books, school bag, shoes, stationary and meals during their study. By signing a direct debit individuals agree to support the child(dren) for the duration of a child’s education at £12 per month.

About Helping a Child:

Children in Northern Uganda are recovering from 21 years of war. This scheme is focused on the most disadvantaged: orphans, those from child led families, abductees (boys who have been child soldiers, and girls who have been multilpy raped, and thos with HIV/AIDS. By helping a child you provide them with an opportunity to break their chains of poverty and a brighter hope for the future.

Where does your money go?

Edukid allocates you a child when they receive your standing order form. We then send an acknowledgment of your donation as well as a photograph of your child.

Edukid transfers your money to our partner organisation in Northern Uganda.

Local workers, in partnership with edukid, mentor the child and meet regularly with the school to co-ordinate and maximise the school support. This means the children receive not only financial help, but also the necessary encouragement and framework to continue studying in such difficult circumstances.

Our partners in Uganda keep records of everything they spend. Edukid accounts are examined by an independant acountant and submitted each year to the UK Charities Commission. There is also a written contract between Edukid and our Ugandan partners specifying how all money is spent and monitored. We wish to make every penny/cent count.

All one-off donations are held by Edukid until a stage is reached when we have enough support and money to commit to a child’s whole schooling.

Any Gift Aid and unspecified donations and fund raising goes towards the operational costs of Edukid. We make every effort to keep our overheads low. Currently everyone connected with Edukid receives no income from the charity. Edukid gratefully acknowledges the role our partner organisations play in this.

Where our income comes from

Edukid enables people around the world to personally commit to a Ugandan child all the way through their education.

For a child long-term support provides them with stability, and ensures they can continue what they have started. For many this will be the only security in their lives.

By setting up a direct debit you can directly influence the life of someone in Uganda. We will send you a photograph and their name, as well as keeping you informed of their progress.
