Sithai is 16 years old and at High School now. She is learning things like maths, chemistry, geography, biology.. lots things we learn here in the UK too.

There are nine people in her family: her mother, father, 4 older brothers and sisters, and two younger ones. Her parents grow rice, mainly for the family to eat, but if they are short of money they sometimes have to sell that too. They also grow mangoes and bananas and Sithai helps out too by sewing sequins onto dresses as many of the women in the village also do.

Last year Sithai received an edukid school pack which contained books, pens, a ruler, rubber, geometry set, compass, clothes and shoes.

'My teacher was really interested when I turned up with everything. Out of all my class she saw that I had everything that I needed and she asked me what had happened in my family that suddenly I had a lot of money!' I explained that it was because of edukid that I had everything. Personally, I felt really, really happy. Before last year I didn't really want to study because I didn't have everything I needed. Lots of children feel the same. How can you go to school if you don't have shoes? Now I really want to study more. I want to study right to the end, but I don't know whether my parent will be able to let me do that yet. If I can finish school I'd like to do accounts for a big company.
